Teeth cleaning and scaling in Kolhapur

Scaling removes tartar and stain that home brushing does not. The clinic includes scaling in its general dental care, and it is often the first sensible step before whitening, crowns, or implants.

What the visit includes

The dentist or hygienist-side clinical team looks at the gums, removes tartar above and, where needed, below the gumline, and polishes the teeth. This is a cleaning. It is not surgery, and it does not by itself cure advanced gum disease. If pockets or loose teeth are present, you will be told that a cleaning alone is not the whole plan.

Why it matters before implants

Implants and crowns placed into inflamed gums are harder to maintain. A cleaning and a gum review are part of responsible planning, not an upsell in front of the treatment you came in for.

Afterwards

Gums can feel tender and bleed less over the following days if you keep brushing. Sensitivity to cold can appear where tartar had been covering the root. That usually settles. Ongoing bleeding after two weeks is a reason to return, not a reason to brush more gently forever.

Questions patients ask

How often is scaling needed?

Many people do well with a professional clean about twice a year. If tartar builds quickly or the gums bleed, the interval may be shorter. The clinic will suggest an interval after seeing your mouth, not from a rule posted online.

Does scaling weaken teeth?

Removing tartar can make teeth feel thinner because the bulky deposit is gone. It does not file the tooth away. If a tooth already had bone loss, that looseness can feel more obvious once the tartar is no longer splinting it.
